An Honest Review on the Hill House Nap Dress
initial thoughts…IS THE NAP DRESS WORTH THE HYPE?
Okay…so I’m going to be fully transparent and say I don’t think I would pay full price for this dress. It is most definitely a splurge for me. With that said, I was able to use a discount code available on their site (see discount code below) so that helped persuade me into purchasing.
$25 OFF HILL HOUSE NAP DRESS
I ordered two dresses with the intention of testing out the size and fit of two different styles and keeping only the one I liked most. Part of me didn’t want to give into the hype and dare I say, I wanted to NOT like the dresses, haha.
However, once I received them and tried them both on, I knew it would be tough to only keep one!
The one featured in this post is the Ellie Nap Dress in Sheer White Swiss Dot and the other one that I purchased (and then returned) is the Athena Nap Dress in Sheer Black Swiss Dot. I shared a mini review on Instagram Stories as well, you can view it in my IG highlights, here.
Ever since I bought the Nap Dress, I find myself reaching for it often and it really is one of my go-to dresses. I especially love to wear it for working from home, running errands, going out to lunch, etc. That’s what I find makes this dress worth it: the versatility, ease and comfort of it!
FABRIC & QUALITY
The material of this dress is 100% Cotton. It’s very soft and fairly thin, which makes it very breathable and especially perfect for the South Florida heat.
The fabric of the Sheer Dot style is pretty sheer as the name suggests, so I highly recommend wearing nude undergarments. I wore this $14 nude slip underneath and it was perfect.
fit & sizing
For both of the styles I bought, I ordered two different sizes on purpose to compare how the sizing works across the different silhouettes and lengths.
The website suggests sizing down a full size and some of the reviews say that as well. I found the dresses to fit TTS honestly, so I don’t think that’s necessary.
Ellie: This is the longer length dress featured here and I got an XS in this one. I find that it fits perfectly and even has a little extra room which is great for added comfort.
Athena: This style is a mini dress length. I absolutely love the effortless/more casual fit of this one. I got an XXS and it fit just right, but I would have preferred an XS for a bit more room.
All in all, if you would like the dress to fit just right then size down one size but if you don’t mind a little extra room, then purchase your usual size!
is it petite-friendly?
YES! The dress hits above the ankle and I am 5’1″ for reference. The midi length of this dress makes it feel more effortless and casual which really adds to the charm and appeal of this dress!
the final verdict
If you are not a fan of luxe fashion, then maybe it is best to skip out on the Nap Dress. Here, here (a $39 DUPE) and here (floral print) a similar budget-friendly style that is just as nice! If you appreciate a timeless wardrobe staple and you feel like splurging on this is worth it, then I’d say pull the trigger on The Nap Dress — you won’t regret it!
