Handmade Gift Ideas

If you’re looking to do something extra thoughtful and meaningful this year, read on for some special handmade gift ideas.

Each year, my family and I do a secret Santa Christmas gift exchange and we set some fun rules. The gift can’t be store-bought. It has to be handmade. In years past we’ve done a homemade treat, a sketch, a homemade sugar scrub, etc.! It’s fun and forces us to think outside the box each year.

If you’re looking to do a little something different this year that’s more thoughtful, read on for some handmade gift ideas. A handmade gift is sure to bring a smile to someone’s face this holiday season!

Handmade Gift Ideas

This is such a lovely and simple handmade gift idea. The moment I saw it, I knew it would make a wonderful gift for any occasion, really. Ashley’s post breaks down the entire process from start to finish, but essentially, you’ll just need a few supples: a porcelain pen, a porcelain plate or mug and an oven. What’s great about this is that your design can be personalized for the different people on your list!

A NEEDLEPOINT KEEPSAKE

A finished needlepoint keepsake whether it’s an ornament, a pillow, keychain, belt, or a framed piece, it makes for a fun and unique gift. Le Point Studio and Lycette Designs are some of my favorite needlepoint destinations. While it can be time-consuming depending on how complex the design is, there are tons of ways to finish a needlepoint canvas. You can choose from witty quotes to floral designs, animal canvases, destination-based, the list goes on! Plus, if you want to make it extra-personalized, you can even design your own with a blank canvas and some acrylic paint!

A handmade bow is a sweet and simple gift idea! You can choose from a variety of fun fabrics like this pink floral one or this yellow floral one. There are tons of Youtube videos and articles that break down the steps, and it’s an inexpensive accessory that you can gift many of your friends!

HOMEMADE DESSERT

There’s nothing like a homemade treat to brighten someone’s day! I love these adorable gingerbread cookies for the holidays. They’re so classic! You can make the person’s favorite dessert or a festive treat and it is sure to be a hit.

I pulled out this dress from 2 years ago and I didn’t realize how much I like wearing orange in the summer months, it’s just so fun! This is your sign to not shy away from color, even ones that are out of your comfort zone.

Trendy items aren’t my thing but there are ways Trendy items aren’t my thing but there are ways to have fun with trends of course!

I think it’s important to have a wardrobe base of classic pieces that way you don’t have to worry about keeping up with the latest trends and have a closet full of clothes with nothing to wear.

If you build up your wardrobe staples, the you can add in fun trendy accessories, shoes, handbags etc.

Are you into trends or classic pieces?
