A Simple Morning Routine for a Productive Day
MAKE YOUR BED
After getting out of bed, make your bed! It’s an easy thing that you can do first thing in the morning and you already feel so accomplished just by finishing that one task. I love the feeling of having my bed made!
SPEND SOME TIME ON SKINCARE
Lately, I’ve been spending more time on skincare. I take my time and apply facial moisturizer and follow with a serum. Then hydrate my under eyes and lips and finish it all off with SPF. Instead of rushing through an applying these products quickly, I find that taking my time to apply it makes it a relaxing way to ease into the day. Who says you have to wait until the weekend for self care?
JOURNAL AND/OR MEDITATE
Journaling and/or meditating in the morning is a great way to reduce anxiety. It helps maintain a peaceful state of mind before diving into your busy day and all of its obligations. I use the Headspace app and meditate for about 3 minutes, then I jot down 3 things I’m grateful for in my journal. These two things will really make a positive difference in your morning.
GET DRESSED FOR THE DAY
Next, pick out a cute and comfy outfit so that you can feel your best! Getting dressed for the day is another way you can feel accomplished even before the day has really begun and it helps boost your mood. You’d be surprised how much a nice outfit and a swipe of lipstick will make you feel! I’m loving this striped shirtdress from Red Fleece. It helps me look put-together for my Zoom meetings while still being comfortable.
HAVE A CUP OF YOUR FAVORITE AM DRINK
Brew a cup of coffee or make yourself a cup of tea and take the time to enjoy it! I like to make it right before work starts so that I can have it as I log on and start my work day. Another great way to extend your morning routine is to make this step another “ritual” and take your time with it. Sip your favorite drink leisurely by the kitchen counter, on your front porch or back yard and just enjoy the quietness of the morning.
START YOUR DAY
Finally! You’re ready to start your day on a positive and productive note. All of these steps are definitely not necessary, but even just doing one or two of them and finding a rhythm that adds some structure has really helped me in this season of working from home. I hope these help inspire your morning routine too!

This is a good list. I’d like to be able to make my bed, but hubby and I keep different hours due to our different industries so I’d be making him in it. Maybe I’ll need to find another (quiet) tidying task to substitute…

Glad you liked it! Yes anything even a small task will surely do the trick.
