As much as I love to share fashion advice, I also love taking care of my body. Maintaining good health by staying active and eating healthy is a top priority in my life. Though it hasn’t always been that way and it’s definitely not been easy, I’ve found some ways to stay healthy and active no matter how busy I am. Which is why I’m sharing these tips with you!
I’m the first to admit that health and fitness do not come easy to me. If you follow me on Instagram, you know I’ve shared how much of a sweet tooth I have… haha. Throughout my life, I was never really an active person. Towards the end of high school is when I stared being more health conscious by eating healthier and doing at-home work outs. Then during college, I started going to the gym but I didn’t really know what I was doing. Finally, towards the end of college and up until now, I have taken it more seriously than ever, and it’s now a part of my lifestyle!
All this to say, that through trial and error I’ve found what works best for me no matter how busy I am. Like, what work outs I enjoy and which are the most effective. Personally, I’ve found that running and strength training have been game-changers for me. I’ve always avoided running because I never enjoyed it. But, now it’s part of my daily work out and I actually look forward to it! Not to mention, I’m in better shape simply because I added running into my routine. Everyone is different, so this is not me telling you that you have to run in order to see results. More like, choose something you really like and that will help you stick to it!
I’ve also found that sticking to the same time every day helps with consistency — I work out at 5:30 am 3-5 days a week. If I don’t get it done in the morning, I sure as heck won’t get it done at any other time since I have 11-hour days between commuting and working. FIND A WORK OUT ROUTINE YOU REALLY LIKE
Since finding out what work out routine I really like, I’ve been very consistent! When you like something, you tend to stick to it because it works and it’s really enjoyable! No matter what that looks like. Maybe it’s yoga, walking, running, strength training, kickboxing, you name it! Find something you really like and stick to it. Of course, there are some weeks where life may get busy, but as long as you enjoy your work out, you’ll look forward to starting back up again in no time.
STICK TO A CERTAIN TIME FOR YOUR WORK OUT
Like I mentioned, working out at the same time almost every day has allowed me to stick to it even more since I plan my day around it. Plus, having it at the same time makes it easy to prepare and look forward to it! This is a huge part of it which I never realized until I started doing it, but it really makes such a difference.
TAKE FREQUENT WALKING BREAKS THROUGHOUT THE DAY
Sounds simple but it’s something that’s often overlooked. When we are busy working, we tend to forget to take breaks. Get up and walk around every hour even if it’s just for a few minutes. Bonus points if you go for a walk during your lunch break. I have done this a few times and let me tell you, I feel so much better coming back to work after my break. It really helps clear your mind and reset your day!
