When it comes to shopping, I prefer doing most of it online for a few reasons. For one thing, it’s very convenient and quick. It saves time and effort from having to commute somewhere and spend at least an hour browsing around and trying things on. Now of course, everyone has different preferences and that’s not to say I don’t enjoy going in person. I do, but online shopping just takes the cake. And that means that spending and charging your card can be a LOT easier and more tempting which isn’t always in our favor when it comes to sticking to a budget. (I’m the first to “suffer” from this! ha)

A Must-Have Tool to Save Money Online Shopping
I have talked about this online smart shopping tool just once before, but I use it ALL the time. So, with the holidays and increase in online shopping starting up, I thought I would share more about my go-to (free) tool and walk you through how to use it! It’s called Honey. (By the way I wanted to point out that this is not sponsored in any way. I just love it that much I wanted to share it with you.)
Honey is an extension for your Google Chrome browser, which you can download here. If you don’t use Google Chrome, there’s an app you can download on your phone instead or you can use the website.
Honey has changed the game for me. When I shop online, I always try to find the best promo codes and coupons. Do you do the same? If so, then you know it takes a little while to scour the internet for codes that work, ya know? But, Honey takes the guesswork out and saves time by generating and applying a variety of coupon codes for you right at check out.
Here’s How It Works
- Download the Honey Chromebook extension or Honey app on your phone’s app store.
- Visit the site where you’ll be doing your online shopping.
- Once you’re ready to check out, click the Honey button on the right-hand corner of your Chrome browser.
- Click “Apply Coupons”
- Watch as Honey generates and applies the right coupon for your order!
- If there is a valid coupon, then watch your order total decrease and see how much $ you saved!
- It works like magic!
- If you don’t happen to score any savings because there were no valid coupons at the moment, don’t worry… you can still score some savings.
- There’s a Honey button that appears on the product image called “Save to Droplist.” By clicking the button, you’ll be adding the product that you’re coveting to this droplist and what Honey does is watch it for price drops within the time frame and discount percentage that you specify. So, let’s say you want to watch a product for 30 days to see if the price gets discounted by 30%, you will get a notification when that does happen and voilà!
