If you’ve ever struggled with buyers remorse, this one’s for you! This is one of my go-to shopping tips when making a purchase so I can avoid that shopping guilt, and make sure that I LOVE what I buy.
Shopping and putting together a new outfit can be lots of fun. You’re browsing online or at the store and are so eager to rock your new pieces. But sometimes… not so much.
Now, let’s be honest. How many times have you impulsively bought items online or at the store and then quickly regretted it?
This used to happen to me more often than I’d like to admit, and it’s so not fun!
I remember buying a lace-up front long sleeved black top because it was trendy. But deep down I knew it wasn’t true to my style, like not even close! For about a year, it was sitting there in my closet with the tag on and I never ended up wearing it… I learned “the hard way” haha. How many of you can relate?
You feel really confident with your picks in the moment and you tuck them away in your closet eagerly waiting for the next event on your calendar. Once that time comes and you pull out the items, you quickly realize you’ll rarely wear them because they’re just not practical or don’t suit you at the moment.
For me, this tends to happen with pieces that are “fast fashion” or trendy, low-quality pieces or random pieces that I can only style one way. This turns out to be not-so-fun when before you realize it, you have a closet full of clothes and “nothing to wear.”

5 Questions to Ask Yourself When Shopping to Avoid the Guilt
- Do I absolutely LOVE this piece? (Like seriously LOVEEE it?)
- Does it feel true to me and my personal style?
- Do I own other items that I can style this with?
- Do I feel comfortable in it?
- Am I getting this just because it’s on sale?
These questions will definitely help you filter out what you TRULY love and what actually deserves a spot in that fabulous wardrobe of yours! If it’s not a definite answer for these, chances are you won’t wear it very much and it’ll just be sitting there in your closet with the tag on.
