Fashion and shopping are some of my favorite things! It’s a major plus in my book when they’re for a good cause and can give back to the community.
A few weeks ago I got the opportunity to partner with a local J. Crew store to spread the word about their sustainable fashion initiative called Denim for Days.
Denim for Days is something that anyone can participate in. All you need to do is bring in a pair of gently-used jeans into your J. Crew store. Your jeans will then be recycled and used for housing insulation in partnership with Blue Jeans Go Green and Habitat for Humanity.
Here’s the breakdown:
Sustainable fashion, while it’s not very common it’s becoming more popular. It’s great to see a big brand like J. Crew giving back and helping the environment! Plus, it’s so easy to participate and it’s an ongoing campaign.
You will already be tossing or donating that old pair of jeans that’s tucked away in your closet so you might as well hand them into J. Crew for a good cause! It’s a total win-win cause you get $20 off your next pair of jeans, which is a great deal.
So, here’s little recap of the event: It was from 6-8 pm and my nearest and dearest family and friends came to support! While I was a little bit nervous since it was my first official blogger event, I was more excited than anything else!
I was so thrilled with the turnout! Together, we collected a bin-full of gently used jeans to be recycled and used for housing insulation. Also, the jeans I’m wearing are my first sustainable fashion piece because they’re marked “Eco”! It was perfect for the occasion.
This was such a fun experience and I loved sharing it with family and friends and having a positive impact on the environment.
