4 Daily Habits for Overall Happiness
Exercise
Exercising is a great way to clear your mind and contribute to your overall mental and physical wellbeing. If you aren’t used to exercising, try something fun to get you into the habit. Explore and find work outs that you enjoy doing. Do an at-home work out like BBG! Plus, there are tons of work outs on Youtube that require no equipment… I started out with these work outs back in high school. You’ll definitely feel energized and happier!
Journal
Journaling isn’t for everyone. But, even if it’s just writing a few sentences or bullet points reflecting on your day, you’ll gain lots of clarity. You’ll look back on how your day went, how you acted, what you were most grateful for, your accomplishments that day, and more. That way you can continuously be more mindful and improve yourself. One that I use daily is this gratitude journal. You can read about the importance of gratitude and 5 easy ways to practice it here.
Breathe / Meditate
A few quiet minutes of deep breaths throughout your day can make a huge difference. For someone that’s unfamiliar with mediating, it might sound strange. But really, all it is is quieting your mind and focusing on your breath. I often forget about this but when I do, I feel so much better! Try it now: Close your eyes. Take 4 deep breaths and concentrate on your breath. That’s it! This can help clear your mind of those negative thoughts, and make space for uplifting ones. It’s like a refresh button!
Set Intentions
Intentionality is key! If you want your day to be filled with pure happiness, set an intention before you start your day to do just that. Write in your journal or say to yourself: “My intention for today is to have a day full of happiness and joy.” Now all you have to do is remember your intention and live out your day how you want to. I struggle with this because it’s easy to forget. But I gotta tell you, you won’t regret trying it!
Like everything, these things take practice and patience. But, I want for you to have a day filled with happiness. These simple tips will help you cultivate more mindfulness and happiness into your life, because you have the power to do so.
