Today, I’m sharing five ways to practice gratitude and why it’s important. After my most recent Instagram post, I got a lot of positive feedback about posting something that was not related to fashion. So I thought I would take that to the blog as well!
The start of a new week always brings about a feeling of new opportunities that lie ahead. In hindsight, each and every moment is filled with new possibilities! Today, I’m sharing five ways to practice gratitude and why it’s important.
Gratitude is something that I’ve recently become more aware of and I’m working on incorporating it into my daily life with a gratitude journal. You might have seen me share an intention journal in this post. Gratitude is the “the quality or feeling of being grateful or thankful.” The truth is, I’ve felt the routines and the rush of everyday life more than ever in the past year. Which has led me to think that there has to be more to life than the nonstop “go-go-go.”
In the midst of the hustle and bustle, it’s easy to forget to look at the little treasures that life has to offer. When you take a step back and intentionally acknowledge everything that you are blessed with, then you spend less time worrying about anything else. This is why it’s so important to be thankful and practice gratitude each and every day. Gratitude is a choice, an attitude and a practice. Like all of the good things in life, it takes time but it’s worth the extra effort.
“The real gift of gratitude is that the more grateful you become, the more present you are.” – Robert Holden
5 Ways to Practice Gratitude
- Start a gratitude journal
As part of a daily habit, take the time to write a list of things you’re grateful for. This will instantly improve your mood and your day. Imagine what consistent journaling will do to your life? In all honesty, this is something I started but I didn’t keep up with. However, I’m going to start again today… this is my reminder to myself! - Acknowledge what you’re grateful for
Start off every morning and end every night by acknowledging what you’re grateful for. As you set this daily intention, you are starting your day on a positive note and reflecting the good things from the day behind you. - Seek out the beauty in everyday life
Noticing the little things in life is joyful in itself. Something as simple as appreciating the change in temperature, the smell of your favorite candle, your favorite song on the radio, and more. - Take a moment in your day to reflect
While this is essentially meditation, it is actually not as complicated as it may seem. Take a few deep breaths and give yourself time and space to pause. Having mindful moments can help give more meaning to your day in the midst of busy routines. - Post photos or quotes of gratitude around your home
Hang little quotes and photos in places like the kitchen and your bedroom. If you see them each day, they will serve as reminders and instantly boost your mood.
