Fall is officially in full swing! There’s nothing like a cozy knit sweater, a warm seasonal drink, cooler temperatures and beautiful trees with scarlet- and golden-colored leaves to get you into the Fall spirit. Though, for those of us that live in Miami, that’s not the reality of the Fall season here.
Miami’s Autumn is more like drinking a warm pumpkin spice latte in 85 degree weather, surrounded by palm trees. Don’t get me wrong, I love living in a place where it feels like Summer all year round. But, it sure is nice to experience a change in season. I thought it would be fun to share how to get in the Fall spirit in Miami along with a preppy Fall outfit!
HOW TO GET IN THE FALL SPIRIT IN MIAMI
VISIT A PUMPKIN PATCH
Nothing says Fall like visiting a pumpkin patch! Last year, I introduced my boyfriend Julian to the fun activity of picking pumpkins at the patch. We took our time to carefully select the BEST pumpkin and later, we carved Mickey Mouse’s face on it (see it, here). Visiting a pumpkin patch is such a fun tradition that is sure to get you in the Fall spirit and create lasting memories with your friends and family.
Here are some pumpkin patches you can visit in Miami:
Burr’s Berry Farm (I went to this patch last year, see it here)
Coconut Grove Pumpkin Patch Festival
The Little Farm
Pinto’s Farm
PREPARE A SEASONAL DISH
One of the best ways you can get into the Fall spirit is to make a seasonal dish or treat with ingredients from a local farmer’s market, like the Market Company farmer’s market in Miami. You can make pumpkin spice waffles, make butternut squash soup, Autumn apple sangria and more! Take a look at some of my favorite Fall recipes, here.
DECORATE FOR FALL
To bring the spirit of Autumn into your home, decorate the outside and inside of your space will all the Fall things. Adding Autumn wreaths, pumpkin-scented candles, rust orange pillows and a cozy plaid blanket will give your home a cozy, Fall feel. The warm colors are extra comforting, homey and festive! You can also add subtle details like mini pumpkins, a plaid kitchen towel, and a fun doormat!
CELEBRATE HALLOWEEN
You will definitely get in the Fall spirit by celebrating Halloween! The fun costumes, the endless treats and spooky movies… the list goes on. Lincoln Road has an annual Halloween celebration with music, pop-up bars, in-store trick-or-treating and select in-store sales! There’s also Halloween On The Mile which is very family friendly. They even have a doggie costume contest! That’s definitely more my speed.
